fall leaves

since madelyn wasn't feeling well, i took the boys out for some fresh air. mason loves, loves riding his bike. we got him a shirt that says "eat, sleep, ride" because that is pretty much his routine these days (well, you would have to thrown in "school" too).  the boys ride their bikes down to the bus stop everyday to pick up madelyn.  while we wait for the bus we go round and round and round the cul-du-sac.  i can't take them very far because manning is in the house napping and i don't like to get too far away.  but the boys don't mind.  sometimes we stop to check out the trucks working on a new house or rocks in the gutters.  the past week or so it has been fall leaves. we look for different colors, shapes, sizes.  today we played in the grassy "island" in the middle of the cul-du-sac.  we gathered up enough leaves for a sad little pile to jump in.  the boys loved jumping on the leaves and making the crunch.

mason found a round, large, yellow leaf like we hadn't seen before
maddux playing 'swing-around-the-tree'
and then we played 'race' and 'chase' for a while.  the boys loved it and i had fun too.  i just love the fall.  on the way home maddux asked to push me on his tricycle (we have one with an extension for an adult to push the bike - it comes off once the child can ride on their own).  miraculously i fit!  i had to help (my hamstrings were starting to burn by the time we got back to the house) but he pushed me most of the way home. i wish i had a picture.  i am sure that we were quite the sight.  love these boys! love.
