a quick change into their costumes in the parking lot and the kids were (more than) ready to do the trick-or-treat scavenger hunt at the grocery store and then trick-or-treat at several other businesses in the shopping center.
it was pretty nice. there were 11 clues that took the kids all over the store looking for treats. madelyn was able to solve most of the clues but sometimes needed a little direction to find where to find that part of the store. i was impressed with how great the store staff's costumes were. i really should have taken pictures because most of them went all out and all were kid friendly. i also felt a little bad for people trying to shop who might not have know this was going on tonight.

maddux was dragging a bit from our long day and was mainly bringing up the rear. |
the gorgeous weather continued right into the evening and it was a great night to be outside. we enjoyed our stroll down the shopping center and the kids enjoyed getting more treats. the last stop of the night was a burger restaurant that we have been wanting to try so matt went in with the kids to check it out while i waited outside with manning who was sleeping in the stroller. they surprised me with milkshakes!
maddux is starting to get the hang of this trick-or-treat thing. love.
