cinderella surprise!

note to self: do not forget to clean the lens to your camera after letting the boys take pictures.  thank goodness nana brought her camera otherwise all we would have would be blurry pictures!

as i mentioned in the last post, nana changed the dates of her visit so that she wouldn't miss seeing madelyn play soccer.  when i relized that the new dates were the same weekend as a prodution of "cinderella" at the ballet, i knew we had to get tickets!  i had been considering taking madelyn but it is nana's most favorite princess story from when she was a girl.
i had told nana about the ballet yesterday while we were at the park with the boys.  she was surprised and excited.  and i told her that we would not be telling madelyn until we were there in case she got sick or caught a soccer ball with her face or any other number of things that could happen that would make it impossible for her to go.  as we drove by i saw that it was out on the marquee so i thought that it would be fun to just let madelyn read the sign as we were walking up.  she was so excited!  i thought she was going to guess because there were lots of little girls walking up to the theater in full cinderella costume talking about the ballet.

super excited to be here!

i had forgotten that they had several 'princess' activities for the kids before, during intermission and after the show.  first stop was a photo with cinderella's carriage.

the theater is so beautiful inside that we took a few pictures.  madelyn thought that it was the perfect place for cinderella because it looked like a palace ballroom.

we got through all of the items on their 'invitations' to the ball.  the 'characters' at the little activities were not the actual ones dancing in the ballet, but madelyn did not mind at all.

here she is learning to curtsy and dance (i think the minuet).

the reward for completing all the activities - a glass slipper with some smarties.
i will say that they did a wonderful job with the ballet/performance and the event overall.  i was also really impressed with the prices, they were not gouging us at all!  i wouldn't say that the tickets were inexpensive, but everything inside was very reasonable which isn't always the case at kids events.
madelyn and nana looking for something special to take home.
it was a lovely girls afternoon at the ballet and i am so thankful that we were able to go together!  love.
