we spent the morning running a few errands as a family (including letting each kid shop the target dollar bins for their siblings one at a time while all in the store at the same time) and then madelyn and i headed over for one of her classmate's birthday party after lunch. lily just turned 6 and she is even taller than madelyn. it was another really beauty day and they had the perfect yard for an outdoor party. there was a huge shade tree which gave a little break from the sun when you needed it.
it was a beach theme party. the invitations were small beach balls which were very cute and given out at school. first all of the kids made and decorated paper pirate hats, went on a super cute treasure hunt (an older sister had made clues on weathered paper, written in an artful way and even rhymed) where the treasure was the piƱata and even did a limbo stick.
how cute is the sandcastle cake and snacks in buckets?
even the kids were admiring and discussing the craftsmanship of the cake.
madelyn's helping of cake and two kinds of ice cream was even more than what she could handle!
their yard was so scenic that the kids reminded me of something out of a movie, like a picnic in the woods.
and this might be why madelyn only talks about the boys in her class. ..
it was refreshing to go to a simple and fun birthday party. the kids had a great time and they couldn't have asked for a nicer day. love.
