madelyn has been trying to whistle off and on for at least a year, maybe more. she has been extra motivated for about the past month and there has been much frustration as she has been trying to figure it out. we even watched a youtube tutorial to try and have someone else explain it. well, i am happy to report that i heard some mysterious whistling yesterday! when i heard her today i asked her to whistle for a video. she was quite happy to show off her new skill.
at the very beginning of this video mason tries to whistle before madelyn suggests he show a 'dance party' instead.
madelyn has never really been one for coloring, but she does love drawing. earlier in the summer i suggested that she find some drawing books in the kids section of the library. i was so proud of her for asking the librarian to help her find some and then made her selections. now that we know where the section is, she has been back several times. this last trip she got one on how to draw people. the first picture is a police man, then a woman and a chef.
she has art in the blood. i think that she is getting pretty good on her own and she appreciates artwork in museums too. she says she wants to work as an artist when she grows up and sell her art for money.
