late afternoon walk

since the kids were so good at the dentist's office and we didn't have plans for the day, i let them pick what we would do.  they wanted to go to playland again (we went yesterday before taking maddux to the dentist) but since manning had not had an afternoon at home to nap in the past two days we weren't going to make it.

so instead maddux asks to go for a walk.  madelyn burst into tears because she doesn't want to go on a walk.  (oh, did i mention that the boys were up at 3:30am, maddux kept calling out in his sleep and then madelyn came in at 5:30am - no more sleep for mommy either.)  after a lot more crying by all three bigs, we headed out on a short walk to feed the ducks.

the second we left the house everyone was smiles and energy - thank goodness!  it was a super great day for a walk.  the duck pond isn't very far from our house, just outside our neighborhood.  the pond is large-ish and the ducks were on the far side so mason took to calling them!  it was pretty funny how he was yelling at them to come over here.

we fed the fish while we waited for the ducks to get to us.  we fed the ducks for a while (i had saved up a pretty good pile of bread) and then decided to head back.

matt wasn't coming home for dinner (since it was golf night) so we didn't have to hurry home for me to make dinner.  i let the kids enjoy some time on the playset behind the pool.  unfortunately, it isn't manning friendly so he just has to watch from the stroller.  it makes me feel bad for him, but he doesn't really mind and it used to just watching most activities.

then it was home for a breakfast dinner (oatmeal bake and hash browns).  we finished the day reading books in jammies on the front porch before bed.  (of course we were treated to some colorful language from some teens on bikes - lovely.)  loving this cooler weather!  love.
