zoo

maddux really wanted to go to the zoo today so after running a few quick errands (and the kids' finishing up cleaning the basement), we stopped home to eat some lunch and then went to the zoo.  we don't normally go so late in the day but i figured manning would nap on the way and then could sleep in the stroller if he was still tired.

as has become the new norm, the zoo was packed!  (i think it has a lot to do with the new exhibit finally being open.)  there was a long wait for parking spots but we were willing to wait and the kids were very helpful about looking for open spots.  but the zoo itself wasn't too crowded, which is what really matters.

the kids have found a new challenge for crossing the rope bridge.

they were sitting together nicely but then manning was very done.
manning never did go to sleep and he was a super happy guy!  these pictures are from buckling up to head home around 4.  (mason is a photobomber, he doesn't like to have his picture taken but loves to jump in front of other people.)  i guess that thirty minute nap on the ride to the zoo was enough for today.
since we had already had lunch, i didn't bring snacks or water.  it wasn't very hot out and i didn't think we would need it.  well, we ended up staying almost two hours longer than i thought we would and i had to buy a lemonade and some popcorn.  we filled the cup up with water about four times before even getting lemonade because everyone was just so thirsty.  lesson learned and accepted.  love.
