baseball with daddy

this afternoon, matt sent me a text saying that he had four tickets to an aero's baseball game.  this is the minor league team that plays on the field his office overlooks.  as much as i wanted to go, it was a 7:05pm game and i didn't want to mess with maddux' bedtime routine so soon after he had finally started to sleep through the night again (10+ hours the past two nights - hooray!); so i took him up on his offer to take madelyn and mason.  (they were way, way more excited before and after the game than they look in this picture.)
it sounds like they had a great (and late) time!  here is what i was able to gather from stories and pictures - they got a foam finger, slid on an huge inflatable slide, got a game ball, and ate cotton candy.

madelyn has been so spoiled because she thinks that you just get a ball to take home every time you go to a game.  and it was reinforced again!  matt tried to get video of her chanting, "give me a ball!" (below), and said that he tried to teach her to go up to the dug out when the team comes in to ask for a ball.  i was crying from laughter when he was trying to describe her waving her arms for a ball in a swarm of big, older kids (who would actually catch the ball should it be thrown to them).  and low and behold, they got a foul ball right before they left!  matt said that madelyn was both surprised (because it bounced from the dug out) and delighted.

now our explanation about balls at every game is even weaker...  and we have to keep it away from mason's throwing arm in our close quarters.  boy, oh boy, does this kid need a yard where he can throw a ball!  love.

Even with a yard, I see some broken windows in your future :)
