it's the small things - madelyn

madelyn, or as she was known today - "princess ariel", is a constant joy and a loving big sister.  here are some of her everyday things:

- madelyn studders.  it has been at its worst this month and i think it was from all the excitement of visitors.  she doesn't even notice and we don't mention it so it really isn't a big deal.  (her teacher said that it is rare at school and the other kids don't notice.)  she just has more to say than her mouth can handle right now.  she doesn't studder when she sings or most of the time when she speaks.  it happens when she is really excited or recalling a lot of details.

- this is her current prayer: "dear God, thank you for the world so sweet. don't let there be anything in our house or anywhere. let the boys be prince eric, let the girls be ariel with read hair, a gown, and feet.  in jesus name, amen."  she adds more things depending on the occasion, but this is the standard segment in every prayer for the past few weeks.  she also still prays when she goes to the bathroom by herself - it is just her personal time with God.

- this morning we had our first parent/teacher conference at madelyn's preschool.  without sounding brag-y, here is what her teacher had to say: madelyn is a leader, is very confident, very smart, and talks about mason a lot.  she said that you would never have known that madelyn was new to the class because she is very involved with everything they do.  she said that madelyn prefers academic activities to artistic ones.  she likes the art projects but moves on from them more quickly than the reading/math related activities.

- madelyn asked to be called "princess ariel" today.  any time i called her anything else, she would correct me.  i am curious to see how long this will last...

- she is a very loving big sister and makes a great effort to understand mason and 'take care' of him.  she often hugs him and hold his hand whenever he will let her (which is pretty often). she has also gotten bolder with moving maddux around so i have to watch that.  she just moves him so that he can see her better.

love.

what a sweetheart?! and she's so creative/imaginative. Of course she would like Ariel, with her red hair. And what a wonderful big sister. Lorelai's demeanor lately makes me think she could use a little Madelyn rubbing off on her...

She loves Ariel, but doesn't stutter when she prays. She prayed that the girls have a White dress in the prayer she said to me. She is a great Big sister. Love her tiara.
