mason was playing nicely in front of maddux' room (i can't remember exactly what he was doing) and then madelyn joined him and started to make some trouble. i came around the corner to see what was going on and madelyn took off like a shot into their room. mason was crying and i wasn't sure if it was a sharing problem or what. after some questioning, i was able to find a fresh bite mark under his sleeve. and this was the first one in a place where he could not have done it himself (on the back of his upper arm) and curiously close to exactly where madelyn had been sitting when i came around the corner.
she knew that she was caught and confessed. after a serious, but brief, discussion about how this was totally unacceptable - not just the biting but the previous lying about it - madelyn cried, calmed down alone in her room, and then went to apologize to mason (for the biting), daddy, and me (for the lying). the surprising thing is that she didn't have any real reason for biting him and seemed totally surprised that it left a mark. her punishment was no "movies" (aka cartoons or t.v.) for the rest of the weekend and no 'treats' of any kind until sunday night (this was not limited to food treats, and included anything considered special).
while greatly disappointed in her, i was pleased with how she handled her punishment. hopefully, this will be the last mention of this...at least from madelyn. love.

Aw, poor Mason. How many previous infractions were there? Sounds like you handled it very well.
she was caught on number three - to the best of my knowledge. the photo is of number two.
today, mason bit her on the back and broke skin through her dress. errggg... we had a talk about where he might have learned to do that. hmm.
