practice makes perfect

madelyn is over the moon excited today because she buckled herself into her carseat all by herself!  she has done this a few times over the past few months, but today it was easier.  and she was able to do it every time.  (by the way, mom and dad are over the moon excited to have one less to buckle too.)

we have been working with her on "practicing" until we finish buckling in mason and then we will happily help her.  we have been using "practice" instead of "can't" and it has worked pretty well at keeping her from getting frustrated and encouraging her to keep trying.

and just to keep the milestones in independence coming, she also buttoned up her pajamas all by herself!

we are so proud of our big girl and how patient she has been with her "practice".  love.

(on a side note "practice" has also helped with explaining why mason might not get in trouble for something the same way she does.  i always hate the "because you're older" explanation, so i say "because he is still practicing his manners/sharing/good behavior" and you are already really good at it.  believe it or not, she accepts that as a reasonable explanation and i haven't had any complaining about it.)

Oh, those are two fabulous milestones for Madelyn as well as mom and dad.
