bloodsuckers has been madelyn's favorite book for the past two weeks (until we returned it to the library). and, yes, she asked me to read it every day. yes, there were pictures that were graphic enough to gross me out. yes, reading it to her gave me the hebie-gebies. yes, it was a children's book. yes, i will screen what gets checked out from the library a little more closely in the future (it was a rushed, rough trip to the library). love.

actually, it was a pretty interesting read. it was very assuring that they were helpful and not scary. the vocabulary was technical enough to tell the full story, but not so deep that she couldn't understand it. i am still shocked that she loved it so much! it was restocking day at the library so there were signs not to place books back on the shelves once you took them off. and my kids were in a grab every book kind of mood - which they have never done before in all of our trips over the years - of course! so i just checked out everything they had pulled and hustled them back out to the car.
