first batch of valentines

i have been saving crayon bits for a while to make our own 'rainbow crayons' and thought that making them for valentines might be fun. i was going to buy valentines, but our favorite discount store didn't have them this year and had a little extra time (work has been a little slow the past few weeks). so homemade valentines it is!
we made enough for madelyn's class first since hers had to go to school tomorrow and mason's don't have to go until thursday. maddux and i did most of the work (since he is such an expert at crayon peeling...), but everyone did some crayon peeling, breaking and sorting. madelyn did all of the assembly and writing her name and her classmates' names on the back.
we also made some hanging heart decorations as our craft of the day (i have one for every day this week) and madelyn turned some into a "heart flower" as the valentine for her teacher. i asked if she wanted to add a loop with her name so that her teacher would know who it was from and she said, "i am the one who is giving it to her, so she will know it's from me." fair enough.

now we just have another 26 to make for mason's class. i seriously underestimated the number of crayons this was going to take. good thing we have hords and hords more than any single family could need. it is nice to be thinning the heard a bit. love.

Very nicely done. I bet the recipients loved them.
