spring break - chocolate factory tour

we stayed at home this morning in preparation for our surprise visit to a local chocolate factory! we drive past it all of the time and i have been wanting to check it out. i emailed them last week to see if there were any times available while we were on spring break (they require reservations), there was only one time slot left. i signed us up and then asked if there were any spots left at that time so that i could invite some friends. they said, yes, but that i would have to let them know right away. i just posted it to our mops group on facebook to see if anyone else was looking for something to do over the break. i was surprised when four other families joined us! i was surprised because most of the ladies grew up around here and i guessed they had been before, but, no, most of them had not. and best of all - matt was able to join us!

our tour guide was wonderful! she was so great at giving us information and not being bothered by all of the kids in our group (there were some other families too, but our group had the most little kids). the best was watching the video before the tour and the kids were all talking about what was happening on the screen. especially when they started to show the candy being made. i felt like it really added to the experience and there were lots of giggles.

the tour was interesting (and yummy looking). you could smell chocolate the whole time you were in the building. they make between 6 and 8 million pieces of chocolate every day! it was impressive and the kids loved that the staff working would wave at them - super friendly! they also liked the 'beard nets' some of the men were wearing on the factory floor in addition to everyone's hair nets.

and, of course, we all got a piece of chocolate at the end of the tour and a coupon to buy more candy in the shop - which we did. yum. yum. love.

MMMMMMMMMM! I would love to tour a chocolate factory. Actually I would love to tour any factory. The idea of seeing an assembly line in action fascinates me. But chocolate sampling at the end is a major bonus. Great that Matt could come, too, and that you got such a great response from your MOPS mamas.
