annual check-ups day for the birthday boys! (madelyn's is next week because they wouldn't do more than two at once.) it wasn't the greatest appointment time - 10:45 - because it is just too close to lunch and nap for manning and he was not having it. he had just woken up cranky. he must have sensed the impending pokes.
mason on the other hand was super excited to be going to the doctor. surprisingly, this was his first visit to this office. we switched practices right after his check-up last year. he was extra excited when he found out that he got to wear this super cool gown!
mason's stats
weight: 45 pounds (95th percentile)
height: 45 inches (99th percentile)
manning's stats
weight: 26 pounds, 10 ounces (98th percentile)
height: 33-1/4 inches (99th percentile)
head circumference: 19 inches (95th percentile)
we had lots of items to discuss with the doctor, mainly about mason, and it was a long appointment. it was nice to hear that everything we brought up was nothing to be concerned about (not that we were really worried). she was pretty impressed with his alphabet knowledge and didn't even bother to ask him shapes since the alphabet is better.
manning is still nursing three times a day so i wanted to ask her about weaning and how she felt about us not giving him whole milk. i was actually relieved that she had no concerns or hesitation. i wasn't really worried about doing it but more about how she would personally feel as our doctor (i have read that some are not very supportive of a vegan diet in general).
and then came the moment i had been waiting for and dreading a little - the iron test. not only did he pass - they were surprised at how well he did! anything 10 and higher is good (i think the other three had 9/8), manning scored a 12! i was so relieved that we would not have to come back for more tests. it was also nice that it was just a finger prick and not the blood draw that the others had to endure. the funny part was that he was hysterical until they pricked his finger and then he was totally calm the whole time they were squeezing the blood out to fill the sample card. now when they brought the vaccinations, then he started screaming again.
all in all a successful trip to the doctor's office. we are so blessed to have healthy kids. love.
