comments

i normally know everyone who leaves comments and have their personal email address.  so i have been responding to comments through email.  i am going to start to answer questions in the comments section going forward.  we will see how this goes.  maybe i will change my mind - again.  for comments with more personal questions, i will still respond privately.

do any of my blogger friends have any suggestions for how to add my responses to the comments section other than commenting myself?  love.

I wish comments worked like FB- and you'd get an email when someone responds to your comment... I have thought about this myself, but don't think people will return to the blog comments to find answers. I have no idea how you will respond to comments other than making a comment yourself, sorry.

i know. we will see how it goes. i need to try and figure it out. i haven't really spent much time researching my options here. i can still email you. i am just starting to get comments from people i don't have email addresses for and want to respond.

Not a blogger, yet, but I lurk all over the place:

1. Posting your own comment in reply is definitely the "correct" way to do it.

2. Right below the comment section on this web page is a link, "Post Comments (Atom)." Atom is like RSS and it's how you get notified that there are new comments. You choose whether you want entries in a "News Reader" or email.

3. I seldom come to your blog page. Very seldom. I use "Google Reader." That's how I knew you started this discussion.

I hope this helps,

Uncle Rob

...and another thing: You might consider letting comments get posted directly without waiting for approval. I realize the dangers and it might not work, but it's worth a try.

Also, YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!

Love,

Uncle Rob

i use reader too, so i understand what you mean about not visiting the actual blog. i knew that it was 'protocol' to respond to comments with a comment of your own but i have just never taken the time to figure out how to do it. thanks for sharing your wisdom. i consider you my guide to all things 'tech-y' - really and truly. i will think about the approval thing and probably go with your suggestion. i had a period where i was getting spam comments and that was when i added it, but i think i know how to delete those types of comments moving forward so i should be okay now. much love!
