the 'stache

mason has been asking (almost daily) to make peanut butter blossom cookies (the peanut butter ones rolled in sugar with a hershey's kiss pressed in the middle). i don't know why he has these set in his mind, but after repeatedly telling him that we will make them closer to christmas i gave in. why not? they are daddy's favorite and we had all of the supplies. i wasn't getting much done anyway and it is friday! so we made cookies. (and almost missed the bus which came a little early - thankfully, she is now getting dropped right in front of the house so i just have to open the door - prayers answered!)

i let each of the kids have one for snack (okay, i let them each have two because they are so good straight from the oven and i was really glad that the week was almost over). when we were done i realized that maddux' chocolate face looked like a mustache. it doesn't look like it so much in the picture because he is smiling so big.

and now comes the bouncing off the walls and "why did i give them sugar?" dinner prep. love.

Front door bus service? That is seriously amazing! Cookies do always taste best right out of the oven - yum!

yes, front door service. they used to do it for all of the kindergarteners, but switched to "cluster stops" this year. we were the only ones at our stop because the other kids were getting home drops still (i think they were grandfathered in). all of the neighbors have been on me to call about having her dropped at the house but i hate being difficult. i always look at it as my choice to have so many kids and i shouldn't get special treatment. but i called about a month ago and never heard anything more so i thought it was a lost cause. but then her driver just got wind of it this week and said it wouldn't be a problem at all (she drives right past our house already). let me just say that the timing couldn't have been more perfect. i don't have to leave anyone at home (because they won't get ready or are sleeping) and didn't have to bring a naked maddux when he absolutely refused to put on more than socks. i think the driver could see him naked and screaming inside the house when i waved to her while she dropped off madelyn. thinks are never dull. they sure are funny though. love.
