madelyn has finally gotten over her insecurity about making mistakes when writing and we are so proud of her! here is a book she wrote and (mostly) illustrated this week. she really doesn't write letters backwards this often - i don't know what was going on when she wrote this. enjoy.

from: madelyn some of the pictures are from me |

the princess had her birthday |
|
she had a cake |
|
she got a goldfish |
|
she got a hat (this was drawn by mason, hence the disclaimer on the cover) |
|
she had spaghetti |
other than "princess", madelyn didn't ask me to help her with any words or spelling. i just love the confidence! she works on creative writing a lot at school and then they read it to the class in "author's corner". she brought this 'book' in on friday and read it to her class. i think this is the main reason she decided that she was well enough to go.
here are two more of mason's pieces too...

he wrote "box" all on his own and brought it to me. he said, "i drew a box and wrote "box" under it" |
|
and this is a finger painting from school. he told me that it was him giving jesus a hug. love. |
i love, love, love to see that the kids are expressing themselves on paper! madelyn has even added "author" to her list of future careers. love.

Great story and illustrations! I think its adorable that she used to be hesitant to write, and now has added author to her list of possible careers.
And Mason's 'hug' picture - amazing!
Great work! Love the "uv" for "of". Makes perfect sense!! Glad she has the confidence to write - so important. Love Mason's pictures too! Nana :)
